Millions of Americans have thyroid disease, and more than half are UN-diagnosed
Proper Function of the thyroid is completely necessary! The thyroid controls many functions of the body. It is the largest endocrine gland. This means, the function of the thyroid is involved with hiding their products and hormones directly into the blood than through a duct. The thyroid gland settles in the neck, below the thyroid cartilage. The purpose of the thyroid gland controls how rapidly the body accounts for energy, makes proteins, and oversights how receptive the body is to other hormones.
This brings us now to Hypothyroidism, which is the enlarged thyroid gland that is caused by a goiter in most cases. This should NOT be confused with hyperthyroidism. These are two very different terms, that mean two very different things.
Hypothyroidism is a problem, in which the thyroid gland does not make enough of the thyroid hormone.
Hyperthyroidism is an excessively active thyroid, and is a condition in which the the thyroid gland produces and harbors extreme amounts of the free thyroid hormones, Triiodothyronine (T3) and/or thyroxine (T4). Millions of Americans have thyroid disease, and more than half are un-diagnosed.
The function of the thyroid gland affects almost every aspect of health, so knowing what the symptoms are that occur are an important step when something goes wrong.
Symptoms of Hypothyroidism are:
»Hair loss
»Muscle cramps which can be frequent muscle aches
»Constipation
»Memory loss
»Depression
»Abnormal menstrual cycles
»Fatigue
»Weakness
»Weight gain or problems losing weight
»Coarse, dry hair
»Dry, rough pale skin
»Decreased libido
»Cold intolerance (cold temperatures really bothers you)
»Irritability
How to Treat Hypothyroidism
Treating hypothyroidism may NOT be the easiest task if you end up going to your local health care provider to check on the function of the thyroid. The problem with the medical community upon dealing with a thyroid issue is being prescribed synthetic hormone pills. These pills must be taken for the rest of the patients life. The reason you will have to take these drugs for the rest of your life is simple. The drugs will cause the body to stop producing its own thyroid hormones. Thus making the function of the thyroid not possible without these drugs! This is very similar to the way insulin is used for diabetes. You will now need this for the rest of your life and rely on the drug companies for this.
The FDA has banned the safer, non addictive hormones that were all natural!
Pure Organic Virgin Coconut oil could be the ultimate natural way to support the thyroid function to get back on track from hypothyroidism. The dosage that needs to be used would be 3 to 4 tablespoons per day.
The other most important way is by sea vegetables or sea weed. Coconut oil alone will not help relieve a goiter, which is caused from low amounts of iodine in the body, hence making an enlarged thyroid.
Sea Vegetables or sea weed have some of the highest amounts of iodine that are crucial for proper thyroid function. Sea vegetables, like kelp, may not be easy to find at your local grocery store but any Japanese, Korean or stores that cater to a healthier lifestyle should sell sea vegetables! The best ones come prepared in salt that must be thoroughly washed out. Using these in organic tomato sauces with other vegetables will usually taste the best. These must be eaten daily to be effective! The amounts of iodine must never be over 1,000 micro grams daily. The minimum amount of iodine needed is 156 micro grams daily.
Someone could also add even more iodine by drinking several glasses of raw milk a day. Never drink commercial milk, as this milk could cause more problems with your thyroid. Commercial milk is also full of Omega 6's due to the cows being fed corn. Raw milk has Omega 3's due to the cow eating grass and the milk being unpasteurized.
Pasteurization damages milk and does more harm than good. Raw milk is a live food and promotes great health and is heated to only 105 degrees. Normal pasteurization is around 280 degrees.
You must take an enlarged thyroid, especially a goiter very seriously! A goiter will be much more noticeable, as the bottom of the neck will become stiff, bulge out and the front of the neck will be swollen. Once enough iodine over a course of a few weeks, or a month has been absorbed to reduce the goiter, only at that time will this condition be on its way to being reversed.
